Why choose Montessori
for your child?
Children learn to be: organized, self-reliant, respectful, cooperative, confident, and develop the ability to take responsibility for their own actions.
What does Montessori mean?
The essence of Montessori education is that every child is treated with respect, given freedom within the limits of a carefully structured environment, and allowed to develop naturally at his or her own pace.
When to start a Montessori education?
"The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement is being formed." Dr. Maria Montessori in The Absorbent Mind

York Montessori School admits and does not discriminate students of any sex, race, colour, creed, or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.

YMS looks for children and parents who share our philosophy, and believe that each child is unique and should be recognized as someone special, who also know that their children in order to learn must feel safe, accepted, and competent in an environment that is encouraging, nurturing, supportive and challenging.

The admissions process begins with a tour of the school and meeting the teachers. After the applicant has been accepted, there will be a formal meeting with the child, parents and the teacher.

This session will give the parents, child, and the school staff a chance to get acquainted with each other. Once the enrolment form is submitted, the appropriate fees and deposits are collected.

We look forward to meeting you and your child.
